Flower Delivery

Flower delivery is a core service offered by floral designers. People often check out their selection of flower arrangements online or in-store. Customers' purchases are then delivered to a recipient's address. Dedicated to granting customer satisfaction, florists put in the time to explore their needs. They bring customers only the most immaculate flowers and arrangements. This means seeing to it they last for more than only a handful days. And any florist knows that making an effort to always keep flowers fresh is and needs to be their # 1 issue.

Proper Storage In-Store and Before Delivery

One of the most productive ways to have long-lasting flowers is to keep them cool. It's also wise to place them off of direct daylight. To make that happen, most, if not all, florists have at least one fridge cooler in their store. This keeps their inventory of flowers cool and fresh. Some people even get particular storage equipment to keep their floral products at a fresh 36-46 ° F. Florists also leave finished arrangements in a cooler prior to delivery or pick-up. This holds the flowers in good health until they reach the customer or recipient. A lot of bigger stores also invest in cooling vans or temperature control units. With temperatures at 36-46 ° F, floral orders stay fresh even with long-distance travels. Most flower shops also do same-day delivery in their town and close-by cities. So, clients can deliver stunning arrangements to their loved ones in as fast as a couple of hours!

Development of Flower Delivery

In addition to managing their store, florists get orders from customers. They also talk to clients about requests they have for large events and very special holidays. Before the internet, a lot of the flower shop's clients were walk-ins and phone calls. These customers typically wanted a single bouquet or arrangement delivered that exact same day. These days, customers sometimes place big orders or specially made floral arrangements. These are usually specific to events like:

  • a wedding
  • an extravagant party
  • holiday bash
  • a commemoration of life.

After getting their orders, florists put together the designs depending on the customer's needs. These purchases are then either prepared for pick-up or sent out for delivery.

Who Does the Flower Delivery?

Florists are in charge of making and putting together floral arrangements for their customers. Flower delivery drivers then grab orders at flower stores and deliver them. Flower delivery positions are usually entry-level jobs, so no prior experience is required. But at a minimum, they must hold a valid driver's license and a spotless driving record. Most floral outlets use box trucks to deliver their items to customers. Drivers must know how to operate and care for these vehicles

The typical outline of a flower delivery drivers' duties are:

  • Packing flower arrangements into the delivery vehicle
  • Checking for any damages informing the florist about any concerns
  • Delivering floral arrangements to customers' or their recipients' offices or homes
  • Sometimes, asking for the recipient's signature as proof of delivery

Besides that, drivers also help in the store or storehouse. These include unpacking deliveries of flower supplies. They may also help the staff organize floral products in the storeroom.
